Equipment: New or used equipment is welcomed. Our project can always use basic medical supplies and equipment, or funding to purchase these supplies. Past donations that have been beneficial have included:
Additionally, equipment can be donated to medical personnel in Nicaragua through us. Many of the Nicaraguan physicians rely upon worn out equipment to perform basic examinations, and are grateful for any assistance that we provide in this arena.
Medications: While we are willing toaccept most pharmeceutical donations, the following list of medications have demonstrated utility from our past trips.
Monetary: Funding can go along way in Nicaragua and help us here in the States to assist students with their expenditures. In past years, donations have provided electricity to Clinica Goyena, medications and medical equipment to all of the clinics for basic health maintenance examinations and treatment, and repairs for vehicles in order to access rural clinic sites. No donation is to small (or too large).
When writing checks, please make them out to UC REGENTS. In the memo line, write MEDICOS. That way, it's tax deductible!
Please DO NOT simply make the check out to MEDICOS, which would not qualify as a receipt to claim for taxes.

Time: Or one can simply give their time by traveling to León and serving as a preceptor. If however, your previous experience in foreign travel and/or medical expertise can help our students in prepartation for their travels that can be valuable as well. We have various seminars in which we provide some background and training for the students before they leave on their journey to Central America. We can always supplement that training with some previous stories of experience from faculty or travelers.
