Students for Integrative Medicine (SIM)

(formerly CAMSIG)

SIM's purpose is to sponsor lectures, demonstrations and discussions related to the interface between conventional allopathic medicine and Complementary and Alternative Medicine (CAM) practices in today's healthcare environment. Also, to form a network of informed students, physicians and community practitioners that may serve as a resource for others that have interests or concerns regarding CAM practices.

SIM was formerly known as CAMSIG which stands for Complementary and Alternative Medicine Student Interest Group. We feel that our purpose is not just to promote CAM but Integrative Medicine which is defined as a medicine that "combines mainstream medical therapies and CAM therapies for which there is some high-quality scientific evidence of safety and effectiveness." [Definition from the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine (NCCAM) of the NIH]
